Fecha de inicio: 05/02/2020

Description

This decree approves the Regulation on the Certification and Supervision of Organic Production and amends the regulation of Law No. 29196, strengthening the legal framework to ensure traceability, oversight, and compliance of organic products in Peru. SENASA, as the National Authority, is responsible for authorizing certification bodies, supervising production systems and inputs, managing registries, addressing complaints, and negotiating international equivalency agreements. The regulation also introduces the National Organic Production Seal, which certifies compliance with national standards. The certification system covers plant and animal production, beekeeping, wild harvesting, processing, and marketing. Key actors include certified operators, certification bodies, and participatory guarantee systems. Digital tools such as the Information System for Control and the Internal Control System (ICS) support real-time traceability and collective verification among small-scale producers. This regulation promotes a competitive and sustainable organic production model in Peru, from producers to final consumers.
