Description

It is established that Agrobiodiversity Zones oriented to the conservation and sustainable use of native species cultivated by indigenous peoples may not be used for purposes other than the conservation of such species and the safeguarding of indigenous cultures. However, their use is permitted for tourism activities that promote knowledge and appreciation of native agrobiodiversity and the traditional practices of indigenous peoples, such as seed fairs or other similar initiatives. Within this framework, the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) is the entity in charge of formalizing the recognition of these zones. In compliance with this, the Agrobiodiversity Zone called “Andahuaylas”, located in the districts of Chiara and San Miguel de Chacrampa, in the province of Andahuaylas, department of Apurimac, has been officially recognized by Ministerial Resolution. This zone has an area of 20,923.0042 hectares.
