Peru: Multiannual Sectoral Strategic Plan (PESEM) for the Agrarian and Irrigation Sector 2024 - 2030

The PESEM of the Agriculture and Irrigation Sector 2024-2030 defines the medium-term sectoral strategy, aligned with the National Strategic Development Plan (PEDN) to 2050, to contribute mainly to the following national objectives: - ON2: Sustainable management of the territory, with a focus on risk prevention and adaptation to climate change, considering geographic and cultural diversity. - ON3: Improvement of competitiveness and productivity through the sustainable use of resources, science, technology and digital transformation. Likewise, this plan is articulated with the National Agrarian Policy (PNA) to 2030, aiming to: OP1: Strengthen the vertical integration of agricultural producers in the value chain; OP2: Decrease the number of family producers in a subsistence situation; OP3: Optimize the sustainable management of natural resources. To achieve these goals, the sector's PESEM establishes four Strategic Sector Objectives (OES): Improve the sustainable use of natural resources in the agricultural sector, Increase resilience and mitigate the effects of climate change on agricultural activity, Increase the productivity of agricultural production systems, and Expand access to markets for agricultural products.
