Description

The Multiannual Sector Strategic Plan (PESEM) of the Environmental Sector 2024-2030 is a key instrument of environmental strategic planning, aligned with the National Environmental Policy 2030 and the National Development Strategic Plan 2050. Its purpose is to define guidelines to guide the sector's actions to achieve sustainable development focused on the wellbeing of the Peruvian population. This PESEM of the environmental sector must be implemented by the public entities of the environmental sector, such as MINAM, SENAMHI, SERNANP, OEFA, SENACE, INAIGEM, IIAP, IGP, in addition to regional and local governments in the exercise of their environmental competencies; it also contributes directly to National Objective No. 2 of the PEDN, which seeks sustainable management of the territory, reducing risks and threats in a context of climate change, recognizing the geographical and cultural diversity of the country. To this end, it establishes six Strategic Sectoral Objectives (OES): Reduce the loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services; Control environmental pollution; Promote the circular economy and improve solid waste management; Reduce climate risks and greenhouse gas emissions; Strengthen the decentralized management of the environmental system; and Promote citizenship with greater environmental responsibility.
