Strategic Plan for Capacity Building of the National Climate Change Committee of Guyana

Fecha de inicio: 2020
Fecha de fin: 2030

Description

The Strategic Plan for Capacity Building of the National Climate Change Committee (NCCC) of Guyana is an instrument designed to consolidate the NCCC as the premier national consultative body on climate change processes, in support of the Office of Climate Change (OCC) mandate. This framework establishes a comprehensive system to improve coordination and effective delivery of scientific, technical, and institutional advice on climate change processes at the international, regional, national, and sub-national levels. The plan includes a 10-year vision to strengthen the institutional capacity of the NCCC, as well as a specific 12-month plan for capacity building in the agricultural sector, recognizing the particular vulnerability of this sector to climate change. It proposes mechanisms for mainstreaming and integrating climate change considerations into policies, legislations, regulations, sector strategies, and plans, and establishes standard operating procedures for priority tasks, including reviewing direct access entity applications and project concepts/proposals for climate funds. The plan aligns with Guyana's Green State Development Strategy (GSDS) Vision 2040, the Paris Agreement, and CARICOM's Implementation Plan for the Regional Framework for Achieving Development Resilient to Climate Change.
