Description

The Regulation for the declaration of private protected areas or voluntary conservation, promulgated through Resolution No. 012-2011, establishes the regulatory framework for the creation and management of conservation areas on private lands in the Dominican Republic. This instrument defines the procedures, requirements, and mechanisms for private landowners to voluntarily dedicate their properties to the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems, complementing state environmental protection efforts. The regulation establishes management categories, responsibilities of owners, conservation incentives, and institutional monitoring mechanisms. It represents an innovation in Dominican environmental policy by promoting private sector participation in the conservation of the country's natural heritage.
