Description

The Protocol of amendment to the Amazon Cooperation Treaty, adopted in Caracas, establishes modifications to the original treaty to strengthen regional cooperation mechanisms in the Amazon. This international legal instrument creates the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) as an entity with legal personality to implement the objectives of the treaty. The protocol reinforces the commitment of Amazonian countries to the conservation of natural heritage, sustainable development, and scientific and technological cooperation in the region.
