Description

On November 27, 2024, Supreme Decree No. 012-2024-MINAM approved the National Policy: National Strategy for Climate Change to 2050 (ENCC 2050), which has been formulated in line with the National Policy for the Modernization of Public Management. The purpose of this instrument is to guide and promote the country's actions in the face of climate change, establishing guidelines to address the public problem of the accelerated increase in the negative impacts of climate change on the population and their livelihoods in Peru. In this way, public entities are expected to integrate this strategy into their planning and management processes. The formulation of this policy was based on the approaches established in Article 3 of Law No. 30754, Framework Law on Climate Change, as well as other approaches prioritized by the entities responsible for its implementation, according to their functions and competencies. Its elaboration was developed in a participatory manner and with a multisectoral approach, involving 29 Peruvian State entities belonging to 12 sectors. In addition, economic and social actors and representatives of civil society are expected to be able to apply these guidelines and benefit from integrated climate management through various mechanisms, including participation in the National Climate Change Commission (CNCC).
