Description

The National Forest Conservation Program for Climate Change Mitigation is an initiative of the Peruvian Government aimed at protecting tropical forests as a strategy against climate change. This program promotes the conservation of forest ecosystems, the sustainable development of indigenous and local communities, and the reduction of emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. It implements conditional direct transfer mechanisms, strengthening of local capacities, and promotion of sustainable economic activities compatible with conservation. It represents a fundamental instrument to fulfill the country's climate commitments and preserve Peru's forest heritage and its ecosystem services.
