The Policies for the Effective Management of the National System of Protected Areas establish the strategic guidelines to strengthen the conservation and sustainable management of protected areas in the Dominican Republic. This instrument defines the directives for planning, management, financing, and governance of the National System of Protected Areas, promoting the participation of diverse social and institutional actors. The policy seeks to guarantee the integrity of ecosystems and biodiversity, as well as ensure the provision of key environmental services for the country's sustainable development. It constitutes a guiding framework for decision-making on the conservation of the Dominican natural heritage.
