National Forest Restoration Plan 2019-2030

National planning instrument of Ecuador's Ministry of Environment aimed at promoting and coordinating the restoration of degraded forest ecosystems and landscapes during 2019-2030. The plan seeks to recover ecological integrity, vegetation cover, biodiversity and ecosystem services in degraded areas through forest and landscape restoration processes. It establishes guidelines for prioritizing intervention areas, strengthening planning and institutional coordination, generating and managing restoration information, promoting mechanisms that facilitate implementation and monitoring restoration interventions. It addresses ecological connectivity, recovery of degraded lands and ecosystems, biodiversity conservation and the participation of public institutions, landowners and land users, and communities associated with intervention areas. Restoration also contributes to broader environmental and climate objectives, but the instrument's primary purpose is the recovery of degraded forest ecosystems and their ecological functions.
