The Comprehensive Plan for the Amazon (PIA) 2016-2035 is a planning instrument approved by the Board of Directors of the Institute for Amazon Regional Eco-development (ECORAE) that replaces the Master Plan for Amazon Regional Eco-development. This plan constitutes a fundamental tool for the sustainable development of the special Amazonian territorial circumscription, aimed at guaranteeing the conservation and protection of its ecosystems under the principle of sumak kawsay. The PIA was developed in coordination with the National Secretariat of Planning and Development (SENPLADES) and includes social, economic, environmental, and cultural aspects with a territorial planning approach. The plan underwent a citizen participation process through workshops in the six Amazonian provinces, demonstrating a commitment to comprehensive participatory planning.
