Description

The Management Plan for the Protected Areas of Galapagos for Good Living is a strategic instrument developed by the Galapagos National Park Directorate in 2014 for the comprehensive management of the archipelago's protected areas. This document establishes guidelines, policies and programs for the conservation of Galapagos' terrestrial and marine ecosystems, harmonizing the protection of its unique biodiversity with the sustainable development of local communities under the Good Living paradigm. The plan integrates scientific, participatory and adaptive approaches for managing these globally significant island ecosystems, addressing challenges such as invasive species, tourism, fishing and climate change, while promoting shared governance and sustainable use of natural resources for the benefit of residents and future generations.
