Description

It is a legal framework established in Suriname for the protection and conservation of the country's natural resources through the designation of nature reserves. It establishes criteria for the designation of protected areas, regulates permitted and prohibited activities within these reserves, and determines penalties for violations. The law assigns management responsibility to the Head of State Forest Management and creates a Nature Conservation Commission as an advisory body. It includes specific provisions for special permits for scientific, educational and cultural purposes.
