Fecha de inicio: 2007
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

This policy establishes a national framework to regulate access to Guyana's genetic resources and ensure that benefits arising from their utilization are shared fairly and equitably. It establishes mechanisms for free prior informed consent, mutually agreed terms, and benefit-sharing among the government, Amerindian communities, local communities and other stakeholders. The policy responds to Guyana's international commitments under the Convention on Biological Diversity and promotes the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.
