Description

The National Plan for Forest Cover Monitoring of Suriname defines activities to strengthen the National Forest Monitoring System by generating reliable, up-to-date, accessible and transparent information about changes in forest cover. This plan implements three programs: strengthening national capacity on forest cover monitoring, data generation on forest cover and its changes, and sharing information with policy-makers and communities. Developed in collaboration with the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO), it constitutes a fundamental tool for sustainable forest use policies and REDD+ implementation.
