Mexico's Climate Change Mid-Century Strategy

Start Date: 2016
End Date: N/A

Description

Mexico's Climate Change Mid-Century Strategy is the guiding instrument of the national climate change policy, both in the medium and long-term, to face the impacts of climate change and to transition towards a competitive, sustainable low-carbon economy. The strategy describes the strategic lines of action guiding policies of the three government levels and aims to encourage social participation and co-responsibility. The document establishes milestones for the next 10, 20 and 40 years regarding seven important areas: society and population, ecosystems, energy, emissions, productive systems, private sector, and mobility. It includes ambitious mitigation goals to reduce GHG emissions by 50% by 2050 compared to 2000 levels, and adaptation measures based on Mexico's vulnerability assessment.
