Description

The Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) is an instrument that establishes the guidelines, principles, and procedures for the assessment, management, and mitigation of environmental and social risks and impacts in the implementation of the Emissions Reduction Initiative in Mexico. This initiative aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the forestry sector, protect forests, conserve biodiversity, and improve the livelihoods of indigenous populations and local communities that depend on forests. The ESMF ensures that implemented activities respect the environmental and social safeguards established by the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) of the World Bank.
