Description
Law 11,460 establishes regulations for the research and cultivation of genetically modified organisms in Brazilian protected areas, prohibiting these activities in indigenous lands and conservation units, with the exception of Environmental Protection Areas. It modifies Law 9,985 to allow Management Plans to regulate activities related to genetically modified organisms in Environmental Protection Areas and buffer zones, considering technical biosafety criteria. It also includes modifications to Law 11,105 regarding the decision-making process of the National Technical Biosafety Commission, establishing a voting system by absolute majority of its members.
