Description

The Forestry Sector Law of the Dominican Republic establishes a regulatory framework for sustainable forest management, seeking the conservation, use, production, industrialization, and commercialization of forests, as well as the protection of natural resources that form part of their ecosystems. It includes provisions on state forest administration, forest plantations, management plans, industrialization of forest products, protection of forest heritage, fire prevention, phytosanitary protection, forest research, and a Forest Development Fund. The law also contemplates sanctions for forest infractions and mechanisms for citizen participation in the conservation and management of forests.
