Description

The Suriname Forest Management Act establishes a comprehensive legal framework for the sustainable management of the country's forest resources. This legislation regulates both forest exploration and exploitation, promoting the rational use of forests as a renewable natural resource. The law classifies forests according to their purpose and establishes mechanisms for their sustainable management, including management plans and requirements for concessions. Additionally, it recognizes and respects the customary rights of tribal communities living in the forests.
