Description
The National Safeguards Approach of Honduras is an instrument that provides guidance on how to ensure the approach, respect, and compliance with REDD+ safeguards of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), according to the Honduran national context. Developed by the National Committee of Social and Environmental Safeguards of Honduras (CONASASH), this approach is based on the existing governance framework (legal, institutional, and compliance) and establishes principles, objectives, and indicators to ensure that REDD+ activities do not generate negative environmental and social impacts, but rather enhance multiple benefits associated with forest conservation and improve the quality of life of communities and indigenous peoples.
