Description
Peru's updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) for the 2021-2030 period establish the country's commitment to reduce emissions and adapt to climate change within the framework of the Paris Agreement. For mitigation, Peru commits to ensuring that its net greenhouse gas emissions do not exceed 208.8 MtCO2eq by 2030 (unconditional target), with the potential to reach a maximum level of 179.0 MtCO2eq conditional on international external financing. For adaptation, it seeks to reduce damages, alterations, and losses associated with climate change in populations, ecosystems, territories, and infrastructure, through concrete actions in the prioritized areas of agriculture, forests, fisheries and aquaculture, health, water, tourism, and transportation.
