Voluntary Partnership Agreement between Honduras and the European Union for legal timber trade (VPA-FLEGT Honduras-EU)

Fecha de inicio: 08/01/2013
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

The Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) between Honduras and the European Union is a legally binding agreement that seeks to ensure that all timber and derived products exported from Honduras to the EU comply with Honduran legislation. This agreement, developed through a participatory process that includes government, private sector, civil society, and indigenous and Afro-descendant peoples, goes beyond trade by addressing environmental and development aspects. The VPA serves as a mechanism to improve forest governance, strengthen law enforcement, and combat illegal logging, being part of the EU's 2003 FLEGT Action Plan (Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade).
