Description

The Agreement establishes the National Aquaculture and Fisheries Sanitary Control Plan, which aims to guarantee the health, quality, and safety of bio-aquatic products throughout the entire production chain, for both export and import. The Plan regulates the processes of control, regulation, and certification of aquaculture and fishery crops and products, under the responsibility of the Undersecretariat of Quality and Safety (SCI), the competent authority for managing sanitary authorizations, implementing control plans, and maintaining official lists of authorized establishments. Inclusion in these lists is a mandatory requirement for participating in production, marketing, and international trade activities. The Agreement also includes crisis management measures and regulates the import of live aquatic species and related products.
