Ecuador: AGROCALIDAD Resolution No. 0262 — Supplementary Regulations on the Registration and Control of Agricultural Chemical Pesticides under Andean Community Decision 804

Resolution No. 0262 of the Ecuadorian Agency for Agricultural Quality Assurance (AGROCALIDAD), published in Official Gazette Special Edition No. 843 on January 19, 2017, establishes supplementary regulations for implementing Andean Community Decision 804 on the registration and control of agricultural chemical pesticides. It sets technical and administrative requirements for registering pesticide manufacturers, formulators, importers, exporters, packagers, distributors, and application companies. It regulates the submission and technical assessment of registration applications, efficacy trials, product registration and reassessment, and inspection, surveillance, and control activities. AGROCALIDAD is designated as the national competent authority and coordinates with the relevant health and environmental authorities. The regulations seek to strengthen oversight of agricultural pesticide products and prevent risks to agricultural production, human health, and the environment.
