Fecha de inicio: 01/01/2025
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

Ecuador's Second NDC (2026-2035) reaffirms the country's commitment to the Paris Agreement and the UNFCCC, focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing climate resilience, and mobilizing climate finance. It is structured into four components: mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, and means of implementation, aligning with the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. In mitigation, the country aims to reduce emissions by 7% (8,800 kt CO₂-eq) and up to 8% (10,600 kt CO₂-eq) with international support. In adaptation, vulnerable sectors such as water, health, production, and human settlements are prioritized. Mechanisms to address climate loss and damage are also being developed. Implementing these actions requires an estimated investment of USD 6.5 billion, mostly dependent on international cooperation (73%). The NDC includes gender, intercultural, and intergenerational approaches, seeking a just transition toward a resilient, low-emission economy.
