Ecuador: Organic Law on Comprehensive Disaster Risk Management (2024)

The Organic Law on Comprehensive Disaster Risk Management establishes Ecuador's legal and institutional framework for disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. It regulates the operation of the National Decentralized Risk Management System and coordination mechanisms among responsible institutions. The law also provides for the development of a long-term national risk management policy aimed at strengthening prevention and response capacities against natural and human-induced hazards.
