Organic Law to Strengthen the Popular and Solidarity Economy, Small Producers and Enterprises in Ecuador (2023)

Ecuadorian organic reform law published on May 16, 2023, in Supplement No. 311 of the Official Gazette. It establishes measures to strengthen and protect popular and solidarity economy organizations, artisans, small producers, microenterprises, and entrepreneurial ventures by regulating their commercial relationships with non-specialized retailers, particularly those predominantly selling food and beverages. It promotes equitable market access, supply contracts, protection against harmful commercial practices, and technical and vocational training mechanisms. The law applies nationwide and supports small producers and organizations participating in agrifood marketing chains.
