Description

This law establishes the minimum environmental protection standards for implementing greenhouse gas mitigation projects through voluntary carbon markets throughout the national territory and regulated carbon markets at the international level. It creates the National Registry of Climate Change Mitigation Projects (RENAMI) and defines mechanisms for the certification, registration, and transfer of carbon credits. It promotes the participation of both public and private sectors in climate change mitigation and adaptation, establishing a regulatory framework for the development of projects that reduce, avoid, or capture greenhouse gas emissions.
