National Plan for the Promotion of Production with Agroecological Bases - Law No. 19.717

Law No. 19.717 declares of general interest the promotion and development of production, distribution, and consumption systems of agroecologically-based products to strengthen food sovereignty and security, contributing to environmental care. It creates an Honorary Commission responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing the National Plan for the Promotion of Production with Agroecological Bases, integrating representatives from various ministries, educational institutions, and civil society organizations. The law establishes guidelines for the elaboration of the plan, focusing on the transition towards agroecological systems, access to safe and quality food, and the conservation of ecosystems and indigenous genetic resources. It directs its actions mainly to family agricultural producers and urban and suburban agricultural production systems.
