Description

Regulatory framework that establishes provisions for the protection and welfare of animals in Uruguay, regulating their responsible ownership. Determines the obligations of animal owners, including conditions of maintenance, treatment and sanitary care. Creates the National Animal Welfare Institute as the competent authority to implement animal protection policies and programs. Defines specific prohibitions on animal abuse and establishes penalties for non-compliance. Includes provisions on the registration of companion animals and related service providers.
