Description

Law 217 establishes the fundamental norms for the conservation, protection, improvement, and restoration of the environment and natural resources in Nicaragua. This framework law defines the instruments for environmental management, establishes the environmental evaluation system, and regulates the sustainable use of natural resources. It determines institutional competencies and mechanisms for citizen participation in environmental management. It incorporates principles of prevention, precaution, and environmental responsibility in national development.
