Voluntary Agreement for Zero Deforestation in Colombia's Palm Oil Value Chain

Voluntary and non-binding agreement among public entities, industry associations, producers, companies and other actors in Colombia's palm oil production and supply chain, established to demonstrate that palm oil can be produced free from deforestation and to eliminate the deforestation footprint of the Colombian palm oil sector. The Agreement establishes commitments to develop a baseline and monitor deforestation associated with oil palm cultivation; generate and disclose geographic information; strengthen production and supply-chain traceability; promote certification and verification mechanisms for zero-deforestation palm oil; orient rural extension and good agro-environmental practices; conserve natural forests and high-conservation-value areas; promote restoration and compensation measures where applicable; and coordinate actions among producers, industry associations, companies, public entities and other value-chain actors. Implementation includes monitoring, reporting, dialogue and follow-up mechanisms for commitments undertaken by signatories.
