Coffee, Forest and Climate Agreement – Colombia

Voluntary agreement among public, private and civil-society actors linked to Colombia's coffee value chain to jointly address climate change and forest conservation. The Agreement promotes sustainable coffee production systems that contribute to improving producers' livelihoods and incomes while reducing pressure on natural forests; promotes climate adaptation, mitigation and resilience among coffee-growing communities; and supports forest protection and restoration, reduction of forest degradation and deforestation associated with coffee production systems, tree planting and the expansion of shade-grown agroforestry coffee systems. Implementation is based on collaboration among value-chain actors, working groups, generation of information and tools, capacity building, and monitoring of commitments and action plans.
