Supreme Decree No. 009-2016-MINAM – Regulation of Law No. 30215 on Ecosystem Services Compensation Mechanisms

Regulation of Law No. 30215 governing the promotion, design, implementation and supervision of Ecosystem Services Compensation Mechanisms (MERESE) in Peru. It establishes rules applicable to voluntary agreements between contributors and beneficiaries of ecosystem services through which economic, financial or non-financial resources are channeled toward conservation, restoration and sustainable use of the sources of ecosystem services. The Regulation governs the ecosystem services that may be included in these mechanisms, the identification of contributors and compensating parties, compensation modalities, financing strategies, the Single MERESE Registry, technical assistance, institutional coordination, and supervision of agreements and their results. The Regulation was subsequently amended by Supreme Decree No. 033-2021-MINAM and remains in force as amended.
