Description

The law establishes a special regime for food donations in Panama with the aim of promoting, guiding and regulating donations of food fit for human consumption, and reducing food waste. It focuses on meeting the food needs of the population in situations of vulnerability or extreme poverty. It defines that donors can be natural persons, legal entities or government entities, and beneficiaries include organizations that operate soup kitchens, nursing homes, shelters and rehabilitation centers. The law also ensures that donated food complies with food safety regulations.
