Description

The Decree creates the National Commission for the Prevention and Reduction of Food Loss and Waste. This commission has an advisory nature and is made up of representatives from the public, private and civil society sectors linked to the agri-food chain. Its main objective is to advise the Ministry in the formulation, review and update of policies and programs to prevent and reduce food loss and waste throughout the production chain, from production to final consumption. In addition, the commission's functions are to propose actions to reduce food waste, promote sustainable development, and generate relevant information for decision-making in this area. It includes the participation of various institutions and organizations, both national and international, and the creation of working committees specialized in issues related to the food chain. The commission's meetings will be held at least once a year and its decisions will have an advisory nature.
