Description
The Strategy aims to sustainably transform the meat and milk production chains in Costa Rica. It seeks to improve productivity, profitability, and animal welfare, while mitigating the effects of climate change through the adoption of good practices in production, soil management, and environmental restoration. In addition, it promotes climate adaptation through the implementation of policies aligned with the country's decarbonization goals, following the NAMA zero-emission model. This strategy is the result of a participatory process that involves different actors from the public and private sectors, as well as academic and research institutions. The focus is on strengthening governance, coordinating actions between key actors, and promoting technological innovations that allow long-term sustainability. The plan includes the creation of an applied research agenda, the adoption of sustainable technologies, and the generation of financing schemes that facilitate the transformation of the livestock sector. The implementation of this strategy is organized into four axes of work that cover everything from research and innovation to the improvement of primary production and access to markets.
