Law No. 14,877/24 that creates the green seals Cacao Cabruca and Cacao Amazonia in Brazil

Fecha de inicio: 04/06/2024
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

The Law establishes the creation of the Cacau Cabruca and Cacau Amazônia Green Seals, with the aim of certifying the sustainability and social and environmental benefits of cocoa production in Brazil. This certification can be granted to cocoa producers who meet certain criteria, such as compliance with environmental and labor laws, and the adoption of sustainable cultivation practices in agroforestry systems. The Cacau Cabruca Green Seal will be granted to those who grow cocoa in the Atlantic Forest biome using the agroforestry system known as cabruca, while the Cacau Amazônia Green Seal will be granted to those who do so in the Amazon Forest biome. These systems must preserve biodiversity and natural resources, and must not alter the vegetation cover or affect the environmental function of the area. The seals will be valid for two years, renewable after a new evaluation. Producers will be able to use the seals to promote their products and companies.
