Pact for Ecological Transformation between the three Powers of the Brazilian State

Description

The initiative represents a commitment among the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches to act harmoniously and collaboratively to promote ecological transformation through legislative, administrative, and judicial measures. The main measures of the agreement are: The Legislative branch will prioritize bills related to the agreement's themes, such as the approval of a legal framework for the carbon market, offshore wind energy production, and biofuels. The Judicial branch will take measures to expedite legal proceedings involving environmental, agrarian, and climate-related issues, including setting targets and protocols through the National Council of Justice (CNJ). The Executive branch will increase financing and reduce the cost of credit for sustainable sectors, projects, and practices. The Executive and Judicial branches will jointly integrate real estate, environmental, cadastral, and tax databases with georeferenced data to ensure legal certainty regarding the ownership of public and private lands in the country, as well as to unlock investments. All three branches will adopt management measures to reduce the direct impacts of their activities on the environment, such as sustainable procurement, reduced demand for natural resources, energy efficiency, and proper waste disposal.
