Description

The Order places the climate crisis at the center of U.S. foreign and national security policy, with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving carbon neutrality by mid-century. The Order seeks to promote a clean energy transition, the protection of critical ecosystems, and the integration of climate considerations across federal agencies. It highlights a comprehensive approach to increasing resilience to climate change and promoting environmental justice, especially in historically disadvantaged communities. It also mandates the development of a Climate-Smart Agriculture strategy to foster climate-smart farming and forestry practices.
