Agricultural Insurance Contracting Support Program (PACSA)

The agricultural insurance program of the Ministry of Agriculture, through the Institute of Agricultural Development (INDAP), offers protection to small farmers against adverse climatic risks and other contingencies, such as animal death and theft. This program includes various insurance policies, such as those for annual crops, fruit, livestock and beekeeping, covering risks such as frost, drought, hail, fire, and diseases. Through the Program to Support the Contracting of Agricultural Insurance (PACSA), INDAP subsidizes up to 95% of the cost of the net premium not covered by Agroseguros, with a small co-payment for the beneficiaries. Insurance is available to farmers accredited and authorized by INDAP in different regions of the country. The program seeks to ensure the continuity of productive activities against significant losses resulting from events beyond the control of producers.
