Energy Transition Law in Mexico

Description

The Law seeks to regulate the sustainable use of energy and promote the generation of electricity from clean sources, with the aim of reducing polluting emissions. The law establishes gradual goals to increase the share of clean energy in the electricity sector, including 35% clean electricity generation by 2024. It also encourages energy efficiency and promotes the adoption of technologies that minimize environmental impacts in the production and consumption of energy. In addition, the law promotes investment in clean energy infrastructure and the development of technical capacities to support the energy transition in Mexico. It also establishes the creation of regulatory mechanisms, economic incentives, and funds to finance clean energy and energy efficiency projects.
