Law for the Promotion and Development of Bioenergy in Mexico

Fecha de inicio: 01/02/2008
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

The Law aims to promote the production and use of bioenergy in Mexico, promoting energy diversification and sustainable development, while supporting the rural sector. It establishes the basis for the production of inputs for bioenergy from agricultural, forestry and biotechnological activities, ensuring that this does not compromise the country's food security and sovereignty. It also seeks to reduce polluting emissions, generate employment and improve the quality of life, particularly in areas of high marginality, through coordination between the federal, state and municipal governments, and collaboration with the social and private sectors. The law creates the Inter-secretarial Commission for the Development of Bioenergy, which coordinates the planning and execution of policies in this area. The law also regulates aspects such as the issuance of permits, sanctions for non-compliance, and promotes the creation of infrastructure for the development of the bioenergy industry in the country.
