The Agenda is a policy instrument aimed at the sustainable development of landscapes in Costa Rica, under the coordination of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) and the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE). Its main objective is to consolidate a model of agricultural, fishing and forestry development that is sustainable, inclusive, competitive and resilient to climate change. This will be achieved through the coordination of efforts between various government entities, the private sector, academia and civil society. The agenda is structured around six axes of transformation that seek to improve the efficiency of agricultural and forestry systems, promote adaptation and mitigation of climate change, boost the bioeconomy, promote technological development and research, reactivate the economy and value life in rural areas. These axes are designed to harmonize production with the conservation of ecosystems, thus ensuring the provision of vital ecosystem services. In addition, the agenda includes the implementation of a governance platform that includes the participation of various actors in decision-making, ensuring an inclusive and decentralized approach.
