Legislative Decree No. 3144 - Law on the promotion of hygienic production of milk and dairy products and regulation of their issuance in El Salvador

The law establishes that all dairy industrial plants must obtain the approval of the Ministries of Agriculture and Livestock and Public Health and Social Assistance to operate, ensuring that their facilities and production methods comply with hygiene requirements. The law also prohibits the sale of milk and dairy products that have not undergone pasteurization or sterilization processes, and regulates the conditions under which these products can be distributed and marketed in the country. It also prohibits the importation of milk and dairy products that do not comply with the standards established in the regulation, and promotes the use of unpasteurized milk and cream only under specific conditions for the manufacture of cheeses.
