Special Law to Promote Competitiveness and Facilitate Access to Products of the Expanded Basic Basket - El Salvador

The Legislative Assembly approved the Special Law to Promote Competitiveness and Facilitate Access to Products of the Expanded Basic Basket, promoted by President Nayib Bukele. This law exempts 120 products from Import Tariff Duties (DAI) for 10 years, including foods such as meat, dairy, vegetables, basic grains, and also agricultural inputs and raw materials. The measure seeks to ensure supply and price stability, supervised by the Consumer Ombudsmans Office. Key ministers are authorized to implement it to ensure its effective implementation.
