Law 8,970 Collective Insurance for Agricultural Producers of vines, fruit trees and vegetables (Province of Mendoza)

Fecha de inicio: 15/05/2017
Fecha de fin: N/A

Description

The Law authorizes the Executive Branch of Mendoza to contract collective insurance against hail and late or spring frosts for agricultural producers of vines, fruit trees, summer vegetables and cereals for fodder, registered in the Land Use Registry (RUT). The insurance is optional for producers and offers a higher level of compensation than the Agricultural Compensation Fund system, covering 50% or more of damage to crops and being paid before April 30 of each year. The government subsidizes basic insurance for producers with up to 20 hectares under cultivation, and those who do not receive financial support can access similar voluntary insurance at market prices. The winning company also offers additional insurance with greater coverage. The beneficiaries of group insurance partially reimburse the cost through the Agricultural Compensation Fund Trust, with contributions that do not exceed 50% of the total cost of the policy.
