Description

The National Policy for Quilombola Territorial and Environmental Management (PNGTAQ) is a Brazilian government initiative to support and promote territorial and environmental management practices of quilombola communities. It aims to foster conservation and sustainable use of sociobiodiversity, protect the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of these communities, and strengthen their territorial and environmental rights. The policy promotes socio-environmental development, improvement of quality of life, well-being, peace, and climate justice for current and future generations of quilombola communities. It is implemented through a Management Committee with equal participation from the federal government and quilombola representatives.
